Carpets by French opened its doors back in 1968 by John French at his home in Dunedin, Florida. John’s business grew so rapidly that his garage, along with his neighbor’s garage, couldn’t accommodate anymore carpets. With this rapid expansion of the business, John decided to purchase a gas station which ultimately became the new home for his company. With the future addition of several adjoining sites, this is still home to the current Dunedin store located at the corner of Pinehurst and Main Streets.

The business continued to expand and in 1989 another store was opened in downtown Clearwater at 1007 North Ft. Harrison Avenue to service the surrounding beach areas. The two stores combined currently occupy over 21,000 square feet of sales and warehouse areas.

John is extremely proud of the standard of work and reliable service Carpets by French and his talented professionals offer. Jerry Trautner, who’s been with the company for more than thirty years, is one of the area’s most recognized commercial sales experts. Rob Wagner, our Dunedin store manager, also has thirty years of dedicated service and expertise in the retail floor covering industry.

Because of the outstanding reputation of the company, Carpets by French was selected to become an authorized Stainmaster Flooring Center---one of a chosen few in the state of Florida.
